Deepa Sebastian has been named the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Apraava Energy, taking over from Gopinath Govindan, who is retiring after a 17-year tenure leading the company’s HR function. In her previous role as Senior Vice President – Human Resources, Deepa played a pivotal role in fostering and strengthening a people-first culture. She spearheaded several key initiatives in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) and talent management, making a significant impact on the employee experience.
Now, as Chief Human Resources Officer, Deepa also leads Corporate Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Her strategic priorities include enhancing Apraava’s corporate and employer brand while harnessing the collective potential of people and communities in line with the company’s values. In 2023, Deepa was recognised among the ‘Top Women in Renewable Energy’ by EQ International magazine. She also serves as an assessor for the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National HR Excellence Awards.
Academically, Deepa holds a master’s degree in Human Resource Management from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Before joining Apraava, she was part of i-Flex Processing Solutions Limited. She was also honoured as one of the ‘Top Women in Renewable Energy’ by EQ International in 2023 and currently contributes as an assessor for the CII National HR Excellence Awards.
