Apna Mart, the Accel and Peak XV-backed grocery delivery startup, has laid off around 10% of its workforce in what is being reported as the first major round of layoffs at the company.
According to reports in The Economic Times and Entrackr, between 35 and 40 employees across functions have been affected. The company has not officially commented on the development.
The cuts are part of a wider restructuring exercise tied to two parallel decisions. First, Apna Mart has begun to increase the use of AI and automation across parts of its operations, rendering some roles redundant. Second, the company has shifted its product and technology teams from Bengaluru to Gurugram, and a section of employees was let go because relocation was not a viable option.
Operational teams will continue to work from the cities where Apna Mart currently operates, the reports indicated.
Sources cited by Entrackr suggested that the move marks a deliberate consolidation of Apna Mart’s headquarters in the National Capital Region, where the broader quick commerce ecosystem, including Blinkit and Zepto, has built significant operational density. The company has not yet issued a formal statement on the relocation.
