McDonald’s Appoints Saumya Mittal as Chief People Officer for Asia

McDonald’s has appointed Saumya Mittal as Chief People Officer for Asia.

“Started a new chapter this week as Chief People Officer for Asia at McDonald’s Corporation,” Mittal shared on LinkedIn. “The opportunity to partner with our exceptional leaders and talent is immense! Asia is a vibrant and growing market, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with the team to champion our people agenda.”

In her new role, Mittal will be responsible for the end-to-end people agenda for the Asia markets. With over 15 years of experience, she is well-versed in business partnership, organisational design, diversity & inclusion, change management, culture, engagement, talent acquisition, and factory HR. Mittal won the People Matters Are You in the List 2015: Top HR Leaders in the country program and has won numerous accolades in her previous workplaces.

Prior to joining McDonald’s, Mittal had been working with Google for over seven years. She joined the company in November 2017 as Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Lead for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. In August 2019, Mittal was elevated to APAC People Partner. She was appointed as APAC Commercial HR Lead by Google in July 2021 and retained the position until her recent appointment.

Mittal was also affiliated with PepsiCo for over a decade. In July 2002, she joined the company as a Management Trainee and was then appointed as Manager, Special Projects, HR, Campus in July 2008. From August 2009 to September 2010, Mittal was an HR and Industrial Relations (IR) Manager and then became Manager, Special Projects Org Capability in the South Market Unit in October 2010.

In October 2011, PepsiCo appointed Mittal as Sales Capability Manager. This was followed by her becoming General Manager, Talent Acquisition – Sales and Marketing, in September 2013. From October 2015 to May 2017, Mittal served as Head of Culture, Diversity, Engagement and Change Management. She became HRBP for HQ functions in May 2017 and held that position until November 2017.
