In the past few weeks, layoffs have become a dreaded topic in India. With companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) planning to lay off employees in the near future, workers across the country are paying closer attention to their own company’s patterns.
Shashank Shukla, a Key Account Manager at Zomato, came forward to share his own concerns regarding the food delivery company and its workers.
“Hello Connections, This is to bring into your notice that Zomato is ongoing with unethical behaviour against employees of the organisation,” Shukla stated. “I am a part of the organisation and would like to confirm that unethical removals of employees are going on here without even consent of employees.”

“No matter what the situation is within your family, No one like none will understand and they will take action against you, They will fire you out and there is no action taken against upper management regarding their unethical behaviour,” Shukla added. “I have been into a incident and thereby confirming the same. Deepinder Goyal, Niharika Mohanty, Zomato, Hyperpure by Zomato, Blinkit, I have already escalated all the issues to you via mail so please look into this and do the needful.”
Shukla’s LinkedIn post has now gone viral as his claims have led people to demand answers from Deepinder Goyal, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eternal, Zomato’s parent company. Entities like the All India Employee Association have also asked the company’s leadership to clarify its stance and be more transparent about its layoff process.
These allegations come months after Zomato reportedly fired 600 of its customer support employees in April 2025. The company’s AI-powered platform, Nugget, was reported to be handling around 80% of customer interactions.
