Ravi Shankar has been appointed as the Group Chief Human Resources Officer at Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited. In his new role, he will collaborate with the leadership team and HR professionals across the group to cultivate a people-first culture, lead strategic transformation initiatives, and contribute to the organization’s ongoing growth and success.
Before joining Shyam Metalics, Ravi served as Chief Human Resources Officer – Group HR at Jai Raj Steel, where he led end-to-end HR operations aligned with the company’s strategic goals. His responsibilities spanned talent acquisition, employee development, culture building, and performance management—all focused on advancing the company’s vision and driving success in the steel industry.
With almost 30 years of experience in leading HR functions for large enterprises, Ravi brings a deep passion for creating value for both people and organizations. Throughout his career, he has consistently driven initiatives that fuel business growth and enhance organizational effectiveness.
His strategic approach combines planning, innovation, and execution—enabling him to design and implement forward-thinking HR systems and policies across diverse and dynamic environments. He has also successfully led complex change management efforts, demonstrating a strong ability to navigate challenges and deliver meaningful results.
Over the course of his career, Ravi has led transformative people strategies at some of India’s leading industrial giants, including Jindal Steel & Power Ltd., Welspun India, Adani Power, and Spice Energy. He has played a key role in major projects like the 2400 MW JPL expansion and the 4620 MW Adani Mundra initiative, while successfully managing workforces as large as 25,000 employees. Academically, he is an alumnus of L.N. Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change, where he earned his MBA in Human Resources, and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, where he completed the Accelerated HR Management (AHRM) program.
