VinFast Auto India, a subsidiary of Vietnam-based VinFast, has hired 200 polytechnic students. The recruitment sets the stage for VinFast’s entry into the Indian market with the upcoming opening of its plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.
In a statement, VinFast revealed that the 200 employees are part of its first batch of hiring local professionals. The company has planned on a phased recruitment process, eventually employing up to 3,500 people over the next five years.
The recruitment was made with the help of the District Collector K Elambahavath, Naan Mudhalvan Upskilling Platform, and the state industries department. Held in April 2025, the recruitment drive saw 344 diploma students from the area applying for the available roles.
Following their recruitment to VinFast, the new employees are undergoing training. Under the supervision of Vietnamese experts and Indian professionals, they will soon meet international automotive standards.
VinFast is aiming for 80% of its workforce to be comprised of local fresh graduates or trainees, with the remaining 20% to be filled by experienced candidates from leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
“As we ramp up our operations in India, we are proud to invest in the people and potential of Tamil Nadu. With varied employment opportunities, this facility stands as a catalyst for regional growth as well as in building a resilient, inclusive and high-performance manufacturing ecosystem that can serve both India and global markets,” VinFast Asia CEO Pham Sanh Chau shared.
