A 28-year-old Infosys employee was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly recording a female colleague inside a washroom at the company’s Electronics City campus in Bengaluru. The accused, Swapnil Nagesh, a technical analyst at the company, was taken into custody following a complaint by one of the victims. He has been booked under Section 66E of the IT Act (violation of privacy) and Section 77 of the IPC (voyeurism), and further investigation is underway.

The incident unfolded on June 30, 2025, when a female employee working as a technical test lead at Infosys noticed something unusual while waiting to use the washroom. After seeing another woman step out of a cubicle, she caught a glimpse of a man’s reflection in the mirror, appearing to record from the neighboring washroom, which raised immediate suspicion.

Acting quickly, she climbed onto a commode and reportedly caught him in the act as he tried to record her on his phone. She raised an alarm and rushed out, drawing the attention of nearby staff. The HR team quickly intervened, detained the accused, took a screenshot as initial evidence, and deleted the video to prevent any possible circulation.

However, senior police officials later clarified that while the videos appeared to be deleted, they were only removed from plain view and could still be retrieved from the device. A woman sub-inspector was assigned to review the recovered footage as part of the investigation.

After notifying Infosys HR and consulting her family, the victim filed a police complaint on July 1. Swapnil was arrested and produced in court, where the magistrate noted the charges carried under seven years’ imprisonment and directed the police to grant him station bail as per legal procedure.
