The Maharashtra government has introduced Maha AASTHA, a centralised digital platform designed to revolutionize human resource management across state government departments. Targeting approximately 700,000 government employees, the initiative aims to standardize, streamline, and enhance transparency in personnel administration.

All departments have been directed to appoint HR nodal officers by 30 June. These officers will play a critical role in overseeing implementation, facilitating onboarding, and ensuring data readiness. As part of the initial implementation phase, departments must digitise and upload key service records by 15 July. These include appointment orders, leave details, transfer and promotion histories, as well as pension-related documents.

The Maha AASTHA platform forms a key component of the state’s wider administrative reform strategy, aimed at modernizing traditional HR practices, minimizing paperwork, and enhancing service delivery for government employees. Although its initial phase focuses on Mantralaya departments, the platform is slated for rollout across all government offices in Maharashtra. Departments have been cautioned that any non-compliance or delays will be treated with seriousness. Officials view this HR digitisation as a pivotal step toward modernising human resource practices and improving service delivery for government employees.
