HCL Technologies added 6,450 employees on a net basis during the September 2026 quarter, marking its highest quarterly workforce addition in 16 quarters, even as its last twelve months (LTM) attrition rate edged up to 12.8% from 12.7% a quarter earlier, the company said in results announced on 12 October 2026.
The sharp hiring reversal takes HCLTech’s total headcount to a record 230,339 as of 30 September 2026, up 2.9% quarter-on-quarter. Freshers accounted for the bulk of the additions, with 6,136 new campus hires joining during the quarter. The surge comes after HCLTech reported a net reduction of 3,292 employees in the preceding quarter, underlining how quickly workforce trajectories can swing for India’s IT services majors.
The attrition climb from 12.6% in the September 2025 quarter to 12.8% in the current quarter sits within what HCLTech has described as a stable band over recent quarters. LTM attrition moved from 12.4% in December 2025 to 12.5% in March 2026, 12.7% in June 2026 and 12.8% in September 2026. The calculation excludes involuntary attrition and employees in digital process operations. Women employees now account for 30% of HCLTech’s workforce, up from 29.6% at the end of June 2026.
HCLTech reported a net profit of ₹5,132 crore for the quarter, up 11% sequentially from ₹4,624 crore in the June quarter. The company revised the lower end of its FY27 constant-currency revenue growth guidance upwards to 2.5% from 1%, while retaining the upper end at 4%. The board recommended an interim dividend of ₹12 per share. AI revenue surged 78% during the quarter, according to the company’s Q2 FY27 investor materials.
