Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has pitched the state’s 30,000-acre Bharat Future City as a magnet for Fortune 500 companies, telling industry leaders that the mega-project will outscale Gujarat’s GIFT City many times over. He made the case on Friday, 31 July, while interacting with representatives of the CII Northern Region in Hyderabad.
Reddy framed Telangana as a safe, stable investment destination and urged industrialists to commit capital to the state. He pointed to the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025, held at the Future City site, which he said drew representatives from 175 countries. The scale comparison was central to his pitch: GIFT City sits on roughly 700 acres, while Future City is being developed across nearly 30,000.
“Future City would be far superior to Gujarat’s GIFT City,” Reddy told CII representatives, adding that the state’s ambition is to attract all Fortune 500 companies to the project.
He backed the ambition with numbers. Amazon, Reddy said, would invest Rs 1 lakh crore in data centres in Hyderabad, while the Adani Group is setting up a data centre with Rs 30,000 crore. Reddy also reiterated the government’s target of turning Telangana into a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2034, and said the state contributes around 5% to India’s GDP. Hyderabad currently hosts 85 Fortune 500 companies, and the stated goal is to bring the rest into the fold over the next decade.
Reddy positioned the city as a planned answer to the congestion, pollution and flooding that he argued weigh on Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, with manufacturing a deliberate focus as the state aims to compete with China, Japan and Germany. He also stressed policy continuity across governments, noting that Hyderabad’s airport, Outer Ring Road, and IT and pharma base were developed across successive administrations, and that his government has continued and expanded earlier policies.
