The Kerala government has announced a new employment initiative to help around 600 former CorroHealth employees secure jobs in the state’s IT sector following the company’s recent mass layoffs.
The decision comes after discussions between Industries Minister P. K. Kunhalikutty and the Group of Technology Companies (G-Tech), an industry body representing IT firms in Kerala. Under the initiative, eligible employees will be matched with vacancies across G-Tech member companies based on their skills and experience. Those requiring additional capabilities will receive training in emerging technologies to improve their employability.
As part of the plan, G-Tech will also establish a dedicated recruitment platform exclusively for affected CorroHealth employees, creating a structured pathway for companies to identify and hire displaced talent. The state government said the move is intended to minimise employment disruption while supporting Kerala’s growing technology ecosystem.
The employment drive follows the layoff of nearly 800 employees at CorroHealth’s Kochi and Kozhikode operations earlier this month. The layoffs triggered protests, with employees alleging they were denied entry to offices despite ongoing discussions with the Labour Department. The state government had urged the company to maintain the status quo while conciliation efforts continued, and questioned the firm’s reliance on labour code provisions that it said are not yet in force in Kerala.
The latest initiative also aligns with Kerala’s broader efforts to strengthen its position as a destination for global capability centres and technology investments by retaining experienced IT talent within the state.
