Pune, India: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has issued its first official statement following the death of a Pune-based employee whose alleged suicide note named colleagues and cited workplace-related distress. The company stated that it has taken note of the allegations and is currently “ascertaining the facts” while cooperating with authorities investigating the matter.

The case has drawn significant attention across India’s corporate and HR communities, raising fresh discussions around workplace culture, employee well-being, managerial conduct, and mental health support systems.

What Happened?

According to police reports, Amit Abhay Brahme, a 48-year-old TCS employee based in Pune, died by suicide on June 2. During the investigation, authorities recovered a note in which he allegedly named three individuals and described a series of workplace-related grievances. Following a complaint filed by his family, police registered a case of alleged abetment to suicide and launched an investigation.

The note reportedly accused colleagues of repeated humiliation in front of colleagues, systematically removing high-performing and successful projects from his portfolio and reassigning him work that was significantly more difficult to complete within expected timelines.

Other accusations include sustained mental harassment by senior employees, continuous pressure to resign and attempts to damage his professional reputation. These allegations are currently being examined by law enforcement authorities.

The TCS employees named in the note, as per reports, include two senior officials named Archana and Shashwati, along with a friend named Vinod Palicha.

TCS Responds

In its official statement, TCS expressed condolences to the employee’s family and emphasized its commitment to employee welfare.

The wellbeing of our employees is of utmost importance to us and we are extending all support to the bereaved family. We have also taken note of the allegations against the two employees and are ascertaining the facts,” the company said.

TCS added that it would be inappropriate to comment further while the inquiry remains ongoing. The organization reiterated its commitment to maintaining a workplace that is respectful, supportive, and inclusive for all employees.

Investigation Underway

Police officials have confirmed that a case has been registered and that investigations are continuing. No arrests had been reported at the time of writing. Authorities are examining the contents of the note, witness statements, workplace interactions, and other relevant evidence to establish the facts surrounding the incident.

Employee advocacy group Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) has also sought an independent inquiry into the matter, highlighting concerns around workplace practices and employee well-being in the technology sector.

A Reminder for Corporate India

While the investigation is still ongoing and the allegations remain unverified, the incident has reignited conversations around mental health, workplace relationships, managerial accountability, and the importance of creating psychologically safe work environments.

As organizations continue to navigate high-performance expectations and evolving workforce challenges, HR leaders and business managers are increasingly being called upon to strengthen employee support mechanisms, encourage open communication, and address concerns before they escalate into crises.

The outcome of the investigation will determine the facts of this specific case. However, the broader conversation around employee well-being and workplace culture is likely to continue across boardrooms and HR circles in the weeks ahead.

ThePeoplesBoard will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more information becomes available.
