Sitaram Kandi will take charge as Chief Human Resources Officer at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited from July 1, 2026, leading the people function for the carmaker’s passenger and electric-vehicle business amid an accelerated transition across product, technology, and manufacturing.

The board approved the appointment on May 14, 2026, on the recommendation of its Nomination and Remuneration Committee, following the resignation of outgoing CHRO Anjali Byce. In her resignation letter addressed to CEO and Managing Director Shailesh Chandra, Byce said she valued her experience working on the company’s people and culture initiatives and thanked the board, leadership team, and colleagues for their support. She steps down at the close of business hours on June 30, 2026, to pursue career opportunities outside Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.

As CHRO, Kandi will oversee human resources, industrial relations, talent acquisition, and skill development for the passenger vehicle and electric vehicle business, working closely with manufacturing sites, R&D centres, and sales operations across India. He brings over 30 years of HR and industrial relations experience across Indian and global organisations.

Kandi has been with the Tata Group since 2019, when he joined Tata Motors as Vice President, Human Resources. He has been heading HR for the passenger and electric vehicle business and leading employee relations and skill development for Tata Motors for more than four years, before being elevated to Chief Human Resources Officer at Tata Motors Limited in April 2024.

Before joining Tata Motors in 2019, Kandi spent close to eight years at General Electric as Director, Human Resources, Global Supply Chain, South Asia, handling end-to-end HR responsibility for supply chain operations across more than 20 manufacturing sites. He was part of the core team that set up GE’s multi-modal manufacturing facility in Pune. His earlier career includes leadership roles at Bosch, Monsanto, and TE Connectivity, spanning HR and industrial relations functions in India and overseas.
