Hospitality chain Hyatt has appointed S. Vidyashankar as regional Vice President of Human Resources for India and Southwest Asia, strengthening its leadership team as the company continues to expand across the region.
With more than 23 years of experience in hospitality HR, including over two decades with Hyatt, Vidyashankar will lead the company’s people strategy across the market.
In his expanded role, he will collaborate closely with regional and hotel leadership teams to enhance leadership capability, support talent development, and reinforce a workplace culture aligned with Hyatt’s purpose and values. His mandate includes building consistent, future-ready HR practices to help teams adapt as the business evolves.
Before this elevation, Vidyashankar served as area director of human resources, overseeing HR operations for 18 hotels across six states. During this period, he worked alongside general managers and HR teams to strengthen people practices across the portfolio.
His career at Hyatt has included multiple leadership roles spanning multi-location HR management, hotel pre-openings and transitions, talent management, stakeholder engagement, compliance, trade union negotiations, and industrial relations.
He holds a postgraduate diploma in business administration with specialisation in human resources and marketing from SIES College of Management Studies, Nerul, and a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Mumbai.
