The government aims to boost India’s strength in the technology sector. Presenting the Union Budget 2026, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “I propose to set up a high powered education to employment and enterprises, standing committee to recommend measures that focus on the services sector.”
She said that this will be an enabler of the Viksit Bharat goals of India by 2047.
“The committee will prioritise areas to optimise the potential for growth, employment and exports. They will also assess the impact of emerging technologies, including AI, on jobs and skill requirements, and propose measures thereof to create a range of skilled career pathways, a new range of skilled career pathways for our youth,” she added.
The Union Budget 2026 has focused on the generation of employment in the healthcare sector. FM said that the government aims to set up new AHP institutions established in the private and government sectors, while upgrading the existing ones.
She added that programmes will be introduced to train multi-skilled caregivers to generate employment.
“To promote India as a hub for medical tourism services, I propose to launch a scheme to support states in establishing five regional medical hubs, in partnership with the private sector,” she concluded.
