Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) reportedly staged a protest in Mysuru on Thursday, demanding the immediate release of their honorarium, which has been delayed for the last three months.

The workers demonstrated in front of the Zilla Panchayat office, under the banner of the Mysuru district committee of the Karnataka State ASHA Workers’ Association.

The demonstrators claimed that around 1,800 ASHA workers are supporting healthcare services across Mysuru district, but their pending dues haven’t been cleared yet, reported The Hindu.

According to the report, the delay has severely affected their livelihoods, as many of them are dependent on these payments entirely for their livelihood. They demanded that the pending dues be released at the earliest and paid in a single instalment.

The ASHA workers urged the authorities to ensure the timely disbursal of honorarium in the future to avoid hardship to frontline healthcare workers.
