A recent study found that in the Indian workforce landscape, manager effectiveness (46%) and AI adoption (44%) have emerged as the top talent development priorities for organisations in 2025. Further, 42% respondents rated the quality of manager-employee 1:1 conversations as only ‘fair’, and 11% rated it as ‘poor

The study titled, State of Talent Development 2025 conducted by InteliTix, was conducted across more than 170 senior HR and L&D leaders globally. According to the findings, only 19% of the respondents noted that their talent development initiatives are fully aligned with business strategy, while the majority remain only partially aligned

Interestingly, AI interest in L&D is high, but extensive adoption remains nascent at just 3%, while 45% reported moderate usage

Nearly half of organisations (47%) say individual development plans (IDPs) are created but remain unused, while 50% struggle with tracking and follow-through. Performance improvement metrics are the most commonly used L&D effectiveness measure (56%), followed by employee engagement scores (43%) and direct business impact metrics (26%)

A shift has been identified from role-based to skill-based development is underway, with 43% of organisations adopting a hybrid approach combining both models. Soft skills continue to dominate development focus, but demand for future-oriented skills such as data literacy and creative thinking is rising.
