The Gurugram Deputy Commissioner issued an advisory for its public and private officers on December 21, 2025, in light of the poor air quality in the area.
As per the advisory, the administration has asked all private offices to implement a work-from-home system. Additionally, Gurugram has revised the timings of all government offices in the area.
The changes come in the wake of the worsening air quality in Delhi and its surrounding area, including Gurugram. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has already implemented Phase IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in the Delhi-NCR region.
In the advisory, Gurugram deputy commissioner Ajay Kumar urged all private offices to switch to a work-from-home model until further orders, after air quality improves.
The advisory has revised the timings of all public offices under the state government and municipal bodies in Gurugram. All state government offices in Gurugram will be open from 9:30 AM to 5.30 PM. The offices under the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram and the Municipal Corporation of Manesar will operate between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.
Offices operating under the municipal council, Sohna, the municipal council, Pataudi Mandi, and the municipal committee, Farrukhnagar, will also follow working hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Through these revisions, the administration hopes to spread out travel during rush hours and reduce morning and evening traffic congestion. “These steps are being taken in the interest of public health and environmental protection,” said the officials, adding that more actions could be taken if air quality fails to improve.
