The Assam government announced that it has decided to increase the ex gratia amount to Rs. 7.5 Lakh for the next kin of each deceased employee of the National Health MIssion (NHM).
“The state cabinet has accorded approval of the enhancement of ex-gratia amount from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh for the next of kin of each deceased NHM employee,” said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at a press conference.
PTI reported that making the announcement, the CM said that the government has also increased the remuneration of employees across five mini-ITIs located across Dudhnoi, Pathsala, Rangia, Biswanath Chariali and Titabor.
According to HRKatha, the employees at these institutes will receive a 35% hike in the salary this year. Their fixed pay structure will go through a revision, along with a new basic salary and increment of 3%, effective from January 01, 2026.
In yet another significant move, the Assam government announced 180-day Child Adoption Leave for women employees across all state government departments. The CM said that the decision was finalised after a cabinet meeting on Rule 43-B of the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972.
This aligns with the central government’s plan to empower women at work.
