LTIMindtree has deployed about 1,500 artificial intelligence (AI) powered ‘digital employees’ across functions such as finance, infra operations, and customer service. With this, the IT giant aims at accelerating non-linear growth in the AI era.
According to a Moneycontrol report, the company CEO Venu Lambu said, “We have created digital personas of the agents. They have an employee ID, a persona and a face, which is AI-generated.”
Every agent is tagged with a human mentor who will be responsible for training and supervising. Interestingly, some of these agents may also be fired or retired if they don’t learn or perform well.
He noted that in the first half of FY26 (up to Q2), LTIMindtree generated over $64 Mn in additional revenue and maintained growth of more than 2% across both quarters, despite a reduction in lateral hiring.
He further added, “Our lateral hiring is not actually increasing. Whatever headcount increase that you see is actually because of the fresher side that we are doing.” According to him, if LTIMindtree aims to grow 2x in the next five years, the head count should grow by 1.2x to 1.3x, and not more than that.
He said that the company has accelerated fresher hiring to “correct the pyramid” and redeployed people from other roles like governance and management layers into delivery. He added that internally, the company is widely using AI agents in finance and operations.
According to Lambu, clients are showing increased inclination towards automation and AI readiness, with clear intent to invest on the same. LTIMindtree is optimistic about the AI deployment.
