JSW Steel has appointed Sandeep Batra as President & Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) – Steel Corporate, effective November 18, 2025.
Batra has been a part of the HR industry for over 26 years, with experience in talent management and succession planning, organisation effectiveness, and business partnering across IT, ITES, telecom, consumer durable and retail sectors. In the past, Batra has managed large-scale HR transformations, including mergers & acquisitions, cultural change, and organisational design, across large global organisations with cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
Prior to joining JSW Steel, Batra was a part of Adani Airport Holdings, having been appointed as CHRO in June 2022. From May 2020 to May 2022, he was associated with Landmark Group as Group CHRO and Head of Foundation.
In March 2008, Batra joined Vodafone as HR Head Corporate and HRBP Technology Centre and Support Functions, a role he held until September 2013. This was followed by his time as Senior Vice President & Chief Talent Officer and Lead M&A at Vodafone from July 2015 to September 2018. Post Vodafone-Idea merger, Batra worked for the company as Executive Vice President and Head HR, Enterprise Business, Digital and Technology until April 2020.
From March 2006 to February 2008, Batra worked as Chief HR and Quality Officer for Bharti Teletech. He was also affiliated with Cendant Corporation from July 2003 to February 2006 as Assistant Vice President, Human Resources and Head of HR and Quality. In June 1999, Batra was appointed as Assistant General Manager, Human Resources and TQM at Sona Koyo Steering Systems, a role he retained until June 2003.
Batra served in the Indian Army from August 1993 to June 1999. As a commissioned officer, he was responsible for the welfare of 700 soldiers and equipment management.
