A Noida-based employee recently shared an incident involving his company’s CEO, interns, and an absent coffee machine.

In his post on r/IndianWorkplace, the employee shared that a new batch of interns had recently joined his company. The interns in question, according to the poster, came from “low-level Tier 1 and good Tier 2 colleges,” and were still adjusting to the work environment.

During a casual conversation with the company’s CEO, the interns inquired about the possibility of installing a coffee machine in the workplace. What the CEO said next left them all reeling.

“In 50,000, I can buy two interns. Why should I spend that much on a coffee machine?”

The post quickly gained traction on the internet, with many replying with sarcastic comments to the CEO’s stance.

“Maybe the CEO prefers to drink fluids that come from the interns,” one Reddit user replied. Another stated, “This is the purest example of the attitudes and issues.”

Many have claimed that an attitude like this is why India is behind countries like China and the US in the tech world. On the other hand, some users also wondered just what the original poster meant by “low-level Tier 1 and good Tier 2 colleges.”

“Wake up, babe, new college tier list just dropped,” a Reddit user quipped.
