Australian software giant, Atlassian has unveiled its new R&D Centre in Bengaluru, spanning over 200,000 square feet. The facility is four times larger than its previous office in the city, underscoring the company’s continued investment in Bengaluru as a key strategic R&D hub.
India has emerged as one of Atlassian’s fastest-growing R&D hubs, playing a pivotal role in shaping its world-class products. Nearly 75% of the company’s India workforce is engaged in R&D, driving key areas such as enterprise search, commerce, data residency, and customer success. With over 2,500 employees, India now represents Atlassian’s largest talent base outside Australia and the US, making it a cornerstone of the company’s global growth strategy. The new Bengaluru office becomes part of Atlassian’s globally distributed workplace network, further reinforcing its footprint across the Asia-Pacific region.
Commenting on the expansion, Rajeev Rajan, Chief Technology Officer at Atlassian, said: “India continues to be one of our most important R&D hubs, and Bengaluru sits at the heart of this growth,” Rajan said. “This new world-class R&D Centre is more than just a larger space; it’s a symbol of our investment in the future of work, in distributed teamwork, and most importantly, in the exceptional talent we have here in India.”
He also commended the local team, adding: “The team is truly building cutting-edge solutions for our global market, and we’re thrilled to give them a vibrant space to connect, create, and collaborate.”
